Equinor has acquired a 25% stake in a carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in the Coast Golf of Texas, United States. Named Bayou Bend, the planned facility will cover an area of 140,000 acres.
The company stated that Bayou Bend is expected to have a storage capacity of over one billion metric tonnes, which makes it one of largest CCS projects in the US.
Other companies involved in the development of the plant are Chevron, which holds an operating stake of 50%, while the remaining 25% are owned by Talos Energy.
