Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has taken a final investment decision (FID) on the Habshan carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) project.
Habshan is planned to be one of the largest carbon capture projects in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with an expected storage capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of CO2.
The initiative will cover the installation of carbon capture units at the existing Habshan gas processing plant, pipeline infrastructure, and a network of wells for injection of carbon dioxide.
