Wind turbine installation has begun for the first development phase of the Vineyard Wind project in the United States. Located off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the plant is designed to have a capacity of 806MW.
Developer Avangrid has disclosed that the turbines to be installed at Vineyard Wind are GE Haliade-X, the largest turbine model in the West. With capacity ranging from 13 to 13.6MW, they will enable the facility to power over 400,000 homes in Massachusetts.
Sixty-two turbines will have been installed once this stage of construction is over.
