Q Energy is almost ready to begin construction works for its Les Ilots Blandin solar farm in Haute-Marne, France. The 74.3MW power plant is planned to be Europe's largest floating solar farm to date.
With construction scheduled to start before the end of September, activities are expected to take 18 months in total.
Once up and running in 2025, Les Ilots Blandin will provide enough power to meet the electricity needs of about 37,000 homes. This is enough to avoid approximately 18,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
