The Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project has completed all phases of environmental assessment, according to developer Dominion Energy and an announcement by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management in the United States.
The final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) gathers information collected from the Tribal Nations, local communities, the offshore wind industry, and others. The final EIS' Notice of Availability will be published in the Federal Register on Friday, 29 September.
CVOW is the United States' largest offshore wind development right now. Once up and running, the facility will generate enough green energy to power 660,000 homes in Virginia with an estimated capacity of 2.6GW.
