Banks Renewables has disclosed plans to invest £100m in a battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Scotland. The energy storage facility, named Pond Energy Park, is designed to have a capacity of 200MW/400MWh.
Pond Energy Park will be built in Bathgate, between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Banks Renewables is currently preparing the consultation process with the local community.
If the project receives government approval, commissioning is expected in 2031, after which the plant will be operational for a period of 25 years.
