CGX Energy and Frontera Energy have disclosed another discovery at the Corentyne block, offshore Guyana. According to the joint venture, after drilling of the Wei-1 well, the companies found 35 metres of net pay.
This new discovery in the Wei-1 well raises Corentyne's total net pay to 104 metres so far. CGX Energy and Frontera Energy believe that the rock quality of the discovery is similar to the one found in Liza, at the Sabroek block.
The drilling of Wei-1 was carried out by the NobleCorp Discoverer semi-submersible mobile drilling unit. Activities were executed at a water depth of approximately 580 metres to a total depth of over 6,200 metres.
