The Banks Group has sold a 2.9GWh energy storage project in South Yorkshire, England, to West Burton Energy. The transfer of ownership follows Banks' new positioning movement in the renewable energy sector.
Dubbed Thorpe Marsh, the energy storage facility will have enough capacity to serve approximately 340,000 homes for a day.
Public consultations with the local community have already been carried out by Banks and a planning application for Thorpe Mash was submitted to the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council earlier this year.
The new owner of the Thorpe Marsh initiative already operates the West Burton power station and battery energy storage system in Nottinghamshire.
