Seatrium has been awarded a contract by Shell to build and integrate the hull, topsides and living quarters of the floating production unit (FPU) to be used on the Sparta field. The unit is planned to have a capacity of 90,000 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day.
The contract consolidates a former letter of intent signed by Shell and Seatrium in August 2023.
Shell announced a final investment decision (FID) for Sparta last December. According to the company, start-up is expected in 2028.
It has been shared that the two-level topside for Sparta will be integrated and lifted to the hull using Seatrium’s Goliath twin cranes.
