Alassane Ouattara, President of Côte d'Ivoire, has met today Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, in Abidjan to commemorate the start-up at Baleine. The field entered production in August this year, less than two years after its discovery.
Levels of oil production from Baleine are currently at 20,000 barrels of crude oil per day (bbl/d), an amount that surpasses the initial predictions of 12,000bbl/d.
Eni expects Baleine to reach 50,000bbl/d in late 2024, when the second development phase of the project, currently ongoing, is set to be complete. Once the third phase is online, total production will increase to 150,000bbl/d.
