Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has granted Equinor a consent for the use of the Askepott jackup rig on the Martin Linge field. Production drilling, completion, plugging, abandonment, and intervention activities will be carried out by the Cat J rig.
Martin Linge, which is located in northern section of the North Sea, is in water depth of 115m. It is 42km away from the Oseberg field, which is also operated by Equinor.
The field's discovery was made in 1978, with its plan for development and operations (PDO) receiving approval in 2012. The project consists of a fixed production platform and a floating, storage, and offloading (FSO) unit.
Start-up was reached in June 2021. Martin Linge is operated by Equinor, which holds a 51% share in the project, in partnership with Petoro (30%) and Sval Energi (19%).
