A consortium led by Jan de Nul has been selected by TenneT, the Dutch transmission system operator, for two 525HVDC cable systems for two grid connection projects: BalWind4 and LanWin1.
Besides the Belgian engineering company, the consortium also includes partners LS Cable & System and Denys. The contracts cover the design, manufacturing, transport, installation, protection and testing of three 525kV cable systems.
The equipment is required to link offshore wind farms to the onshore grid through the BalWin4 and LanWin1 connection projects. These connections will have a total transmission capacity of 4GW into Germany.
